Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC, Jan. 7, 2019 — The Board of Directors of the Executive Service Corps (ESC) of the Greater Triangle is pleased to announce and welcome Michael Williams as Executive Director.
Michael will be responsible for the leadership of ESC coaches and consultants, along with leading ESC staff. According to newly-elected Board Chair, Craig Landwehr… “ESC is driven to build the capacity and the impact of area nonprofits. Matching appropriate expertise to the needs of nonprofit clients is a critical service offered by ESC for over 30 years. Growth of these proven services, along with creative, relevant new services will be a critical mandate for Michael and our entire team. As a proven coach/consultant for ESC over the last 4 years, Michael is uniquely qualified for this role, and has the full support of the Board.”
Michael Williams is a proven leader in inspiring teams and building capacity, with a 25 year track record in both the pharmaceutical and management consulting industries. With P&L responsibilities at GSK, Michael led a $300 million division to achieve new heights through strategic focus. As Managing Partner at Facio Consulting Group, Michael provided specialized solutions for small-midsized organizations including executive coaching, strategic planning, leadership development and sales training. He earned a BS in Marketing from Xavier in Cincinnati, Ohio and a certification in Transformational Leadership from the Wharton School of Business.
In addition, Michael has served on the Board of Directors for Meals on Wheels, the Board of Directors for Easter Seals and the Co-Chair for the UNC Center of Excellence in Community Mental Health Board, while volunteering as a mentor for the Council of Entrepreneurial Development (CED) and as an executive coach and consultant for ESC of the Triangle.
A 2017 study of Triangle area nonprofits by the Institute for Public Policy at NC State University, describes a basis for the opportunities ahead. The report cites: “Strategic management in the form of aligning mission, method, and resources was the largest leadership challenge for some… ” The report goes on to cite that: ” Across sectors, resource sharing and communities of capacities were seen as a need that does not yet have resources or infrastructure to support it…” According to Landwehr and Williams, “ESC of the Triangle is uniquely suited to help regional nonprofits better achieve their missions and improve quality of life in our community”
